CLASSIFICATION: Classified


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
1. Ability and willingness to build relationships and develop rapport with students, staff, and families.
2. Ability to maintain a positive attitude while always exhibiting a problemsolving mindset.
3. Unyielding commitment to the team and doing what’s best for kids.
4. Willingness to work with building and district administration to ensure the needs of students are met.
5. Knowledge of districts roads and bus routes.
6. Knowledge of trade terminology.
7. Ability to actively participate in group meetings with parents, students, and administration.
8. Knowledge of equipment associated with a school bus; including lift equipment and two way radios.
9. Ability to maintain an extremely demanding level of attention.
10. Ability to be exposed to very loud noise levels.


QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School diploma or equivalent GED.
2. First Aid and CPR training.
3. Experience working with schoolaged students with a widerange of backgrounds and needs required.
4. Experience working with special education and high needs students preferred.


REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor


JOB GOAL: Assist witht the safe transporation of students to and from school and related functions.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensure the safe transportion of students of all ages to and from school and extracurricular activities.
2. Manage student behavior and maintain discipline on the bus.
3. Conduct and log pretrip inspections to check for cleanliness, safety, proper mechanical functions and adequate fuel levels.
4. Maintain and track route data as mandated by school and state regulations.
5. Maintain CPR and First Aid Training.
6. Maintain the confidentiality of students discipline and medical records.
7. Report mechanical problems to the bus driver and district transportation supervisor.
8. Attend monthly safety meetings and inservices as available.
9. Demonstrate the ability to communicate positively and constructively to parents, students, administration and others.
10. Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Transportation Supervisor and district administration.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 175 Days per year


EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on
evaluation of classified personnel.


PHYS ICAL, MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. Additionally, the employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 50 lbs as necessary for the safety and wellbeing of others. Lastly, this job requires the employee to have the vision ability to read handwritten or typed materials, and meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with other staff and the public.
