*This position is for the 2025-2026 School Year and is a 9-month contracted position to be be paid using the Board of Education Teacher Salary Schedule*
Per Board policy GCBA, a maximum of 21 years of experience (with proper certification) may be transferred from another elementary or secondary accredited system. The highest step a teacher may enter the district at is step 22 of the salary schedule.
Elementary School Assistant Principal
CLASSIFICATION: Certified, Exempt, Teacher Contract, Teacher Salary Schedule
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Missouri Teacher’s and Administrator’s certificate and appropriate age group certification
- Master’s in appropriate grade level administration required, Specialist and/or Doctorate preferred
- Criminal justice fingerprint and background clearance
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board and/or Superintendent may find appropriate
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
SUPERVISES: Student body and staff in conjunction with building principal
JOB GOAL: Serve as an instructional and managerial leader to enhance student learning opportunities while working to establish a safe and effective learning environment for both students and staff.
PERFORMANCE AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adheres to and follows all adopted Board of Education policies and procedures
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff and community
- Assists with student discipline (prioritizing, assigning, investigating, managing) as requested by building principal
- Demonstrates an unyielding and committed focus on enhancing student learning
- Learns and models strategies to assist teachers in higher and more challenging levels of student learning
- Integrates technology consistently to enhance both teacher and student learning opportunities
- Organizes and prioritizes educator workload to best meet the needs of students and staff
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere
- Works well as a team member to serve all constituencies
- Adheres to and follows all deadlines and requirements as presented by administration/state/federal law
- Attends all meetings as requested by building and district administration
- Maintains strict confidentiality as required by law
- Develops a professional development plan annually and commits to lifelong learning and growth
- Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school and serves as principal in his/her absence
- Assists in supervising students at school events both during and after school hours
- Assists in safety inspections and safety drill practice activities
- Supervises and evaluates teachers and departments as assigned by the principal
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities the principal may assign
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine-month position with applicable health and life insurance and annual paid leave allowance provided. Salary to be paid off of the district teacher salary schedule as established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. Additionally, the employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 50 lbs as necessary for the safety and well-being of others. Lastly, this job requires the employee to have the vision ability to read handwritten or typed materials, and meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with other staff and the public.
