High School Assistant Principal

 

CLASSIFICATION: Certified

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid Missouri Teacher’s and Administrator’s certificate and appropriate age group certification
  2. Master’s in appropriate grade level administration required, Specialist and/or Doctorate preferred
  3. Criminal justice fingerprint and background clearance
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board and/or Superintendent may find appropriate

 

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

 

SUPERVISES: Student body and staff in conjunction with building principal

 

JOB GOAL: Serve as an instructional leader to enhance student learning opportunities while working to establish a safe and effective learning environment for both students and staff.

 

PERFORMANCE AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Adheres to and follows all adopted Board of Education policies and procedures
  2. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff and community
  3. Serves as a lead learner in the building with an unyielding focus on enhancing student learning
  4. Learns and models strategies to assist teachers in higher and more challenging levels of student learning
  5. Integrates technology consistently to enhance both teacher and student learning opportunities
  6. Organizes and prioritizes educator workload to best meet the needs of students and staff
  7. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere
  8. Identifies pupil needs, makes appropriate referrals and works with special education staff to develop individual education plans
  9. Works well as a team member to serve all constituencies
  10. Adheres to and follows all deadlines and requirements as presented by administration/state/federal law
  11. Attends all meetings as requested by building and district administration
  12. Maintains strict confidentiality as required by law
  13. Develops a professional development plan annually and commits to lifelong learning and growth
  14. Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school and serves as principal in his/her absence
  15. Assists in supervising students at school events both during and after school hours
  16. Assists in safety inspections and safety drill practice activities
  17. Supervises and evaluates teachers and departments as assigned by the principal
  18. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities the principal may assign

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month position with applicable health and life insurance, annual vacation and paid leave allowance provided. Salary to be established by the Board of Education.

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.

 

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. Additionally, the employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 50 lbs as necessary for the safety and well-being of others. Lastly, this job requires the employee to have the vision ability to read handwritten or typed materials, and meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with other staff and the public.
