*This position is for the 2025-2026 school year and will be a contracted service for the District.  The wage will be determined by years of experience and paid at an hourly rate.  Hours required will be dependant on student need.

 

 

PURPOSE OF JOB: To help deaf and hard of hearing students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.

 

Qualifications:

• Missouri Teacher Certification in Deaf Education (K-12)
• Proficient in sign language (Preferred but not required)

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include but not limited to the following.

• Initiate /develop Individual Education Plans that address the individual needs of deaf and hard of hearing students and hold meetings per the timelines indicated in the Missouri Standards and Indicators.
• Plan instruction as needed per Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Utilizes differentiated instruction and the IEP guiding document for all instructions Identifies the specific learning needs of each pupil properly identified as disabled and maintains a clear record of the pupil’s instructional experience and progress in the permanent Special Education file
• Engage with parents and interprets pupils’ educational needs and progress to parents; maintains a log of parent contacts.
• Demonstrates skill in pupil assessment as basis for instructional programming.
• Evaluates pupil progress and makes appropriate recommendations.
• Acts as resource to building staff regarding disabilities methods and materials.
• Keeps abreast of and complies with applicable statutes and regulations, including due process safeguards and the Missouri State plan 
• Prepares and submits reports according to timelines outlined in the Missouri State plan; responds to requests for information as required.
• Coordinates all activities and procedures with the building principal and the regional Director of Special Education
• Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
• Other duties as assigned.
